A victim's stance
and a big bottom lip
Insulin
2.25 to spend
A giant bed to flip
I know just where you are
but a big wind just to hit
the little ship
'Cause I'm to busy making tunes
and playing gigs with The Racoons to notice
this blip
Isn't terrible what's happening in Chechnya?
(Couldn't give a fuck, Jones)
(Couldn't give a fuck)
Shouldn't've said it, got to admit it
You've got something over me
Shouldn't've said it, got to admit it
You've got something
I'll provide the apology
when my tongue doesn't belong to me
any more
And I don't want to make light of
what's become a bit of a fight but
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
And if you tell me what to say
then I would be okay
(I would be okay)
I shouldn't have said it, got to admit it
(I would be okay)
I shouldn't have said it, got to admit it
(I would be okay)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah!

Lucky Man
05:52
|
|||
Been assault, insulted
It's your fault, you should've bought it
It's over
'Cause they're coming for you
You're dead meat, in the street
I swear if our glances meet
It's over
'Cause I'm swinging for you
Yeah
You got lucky man, you got lucky man
You got lucky man, you got lucky man
You got lucky man, you got lucky man
You got lucky man, lucky man
And we're not gonna talk about it
We're not gonna talk about it
I can only protect you, I can't fight a war for you
I can only protect you, I can't fight a war for you
You've fought it, you've fought it
You thought you shouldn't've bought it
I told you
Don't bite things that spin
You're dead meat, hit the street
The epitome of greed
You don't care
If you start the dare
I can only protect you, I can't fight a war for you
I can only protect you, I can't fight a war for you

Fierce
03:40
|
|||
I tried to be fierce
Smile with my eyes
Tried to be fierce
Smile with my eyes
You've seen it all before, I know
but it's all new to me
Is there a subjective type
or is this objective beauty?
People look around for odd jobs
with the vengeance of an Old Testament God
They asked me if I was a friend of Jesus
I said I use the word with parentheses
You walk around in Birkenstocks
wondering how to punch the church's clocks
You say he would build a boat
but I'm sure he wouldn't vote
You don't know what giving is
you haven't even raised your kids correct
You can blame everyone else
but you're the prime suspect

Memoirs
02:58
|
|||
You haven't had a disagreement
or been this badly mistreated
since your mother met a man
who took her for all she had
And it's easy to break the spirit
of someone who don't believe
that the company she keeps
doesn't even want her around
If you can recall from the size of her eyes that the
tears started to fall, the pleasure is mine
Sure
You don't have to call me "sir"
There'll be crying Jags and weeping Bentleys
over the place where you went and sent me
But I'll stick through to see the illusion of
Jesus Christ on a Hollywood screen
We get done with wonder and we started to think
and we start to worry that our minds on the blink
The size
of the hole, hole
Some things are better left unsaid
You can read my memoir when I'm dead
No one's so unconstructed
I won't be interrupted

Knight Out
04:53
|
|||
You never learned to play guitar
'cause you're entirely too lazy
You never ever very far
from simple navel-gazing
But you never miss a good time to something sour
You never miss a good time
You're up all hours
It's a night out on town if you see me around
Just a knight out on town if you see me around
And you're alone
Give me a ride home
You let the click drip off the wall
with a burn mark in your retina
You own nothing of your own
except a broken TV antennae
Yeah

Universal You
03:28
|
|||
Listen, nobody cares
Listen, nobody cares about you
But you might be you for a while
You should treat you like you're fragile
Fragile fragile
'Cause when you figure out what you're trying to
You might figure out the universal you
When you figure just what you're trying to do
You might figure out the universal you
Haven't you heard yet?
You're a member of the proletariat!

Disinterested
03:37
|
|||
You say it's not fair but what can I do
I'm not so cool when I'm with you
And I know I shouldn't care
'cause caring's out of style
Watch me act disinterested for a while
Gonna take you out tonight (whoa)
Gonna give you the fright of your life
Gonna make wish you stayed at home by yourself
Gonna take you out tonight (whoa)
Gonna give you the fright of your life
Gonna make you wish you stayed at home
I know it's not fair but I just can't pass
on the other side of greener ass
Shit that's crass
And I know I shouldn't care
'cause caring's out of style
Watch me act disinterested for a while
I don't need any of your help
I can look stupid all by myself
By myself
And it's not that I don't care
'Cause that just isn't true
I'm taken by disinterest in you
